A track for all diaspora Adiğe about tracing our familial histories and calling our ancestors for guidance after generations of displacement.
In it, I sing both Eastern and Western dialects (Kabardey and Ch'emirgoy) of our language, Adiğebze, to stress our unity and our will to keep our language alive.
lyrics
I move in a memory zone
By way of a riverbed
The tumbling rocks
Have changed its course
Some spots turned into sand
I came upon a wise crone
Deep her roots and high her head
Her lonely voice
Fighting the noise
Ears cupped over with their hands
Orire orire oriraa
Orire orire oriraa
Hay ride ride horiraa
I cut myself on a sliver of hope
Just one drop more of our blood shed
Our people displaced
Our places erased
Noone to hear our demand
Iэзэхэм сарипхъу
Iэзэхэмрэ сипхъоу
(I am the daughter of the healers)
(I will write my own story)
(My roots are deep)
(The crown of my tree is wide)
(My pen is ready!)
(Let it be so, that I return to my homeland, word by word, the vessels of my soul)
(Let it be so, that my wound shall heal)
