The song "Dhahikaat" (Arabic for "the laughing ones", female form) is about femme self-empowerment and defiance. It's about turning anger into positive, fiery energy, and that's basically reflected in the screams and fire in the video, which adds to the already celebratory mood of the song.
Fun Fact 1: The performers in the video are two musicians from Berlin-- Wooly Aziz (Jannat Aziz, she/they) and Katya Tasheva (she/her) from the famous Balkan Spirit Ensemble (the original).
Fun Fact 2: I've teamed up with Antonia Lange, who normally works in film, but we've been working together for years, I've composed for films she's worked on, and now these music videos (recently for my music video "Orira" about the Circassian Gen*cide.
